Decorating Tips
Today, everything is becoming simplified and worded differently so that it easier to understand for the masses. So today I thought it would be a good idea to write a short article about how to put together the perfect living room in less than ten interior design steps. I feel that in a list format putting together detailed things becomes easy because every step is laid out for you to do at your own pace. But to even begin my ten step list you must first find inspiration, you must first have a style, texture, and color in mind.
The first three things you will need to knot out of your head is what kind of style you want to set up in your living room. You must consider the color and texture you want the room to emit and that will help you decide the style you want. For example, if you want smooth walls, crystals, and silk you might have a formal look in your head. If you are thinking more linen, wicker baskets, and clay objects than you might have amore unique modern look in your head. Consistence is important, so it is always a good idea to keep one room the same style. The more textures, colors, and objects that go together in a room obviously make it a more complete and happy room. As most interior designers will tell you, decorations are based on three colors- the flat color, the contrast, and the highlight color. The flat color is also called the base color which is the most used color in the room. Remember if a color is used less than three times in a room it is not even yet a highlight color, it is only an accident.
The next three things to consider when putting together your perfect living room should be furniture/furnishing, window decoration, and lighting. It is important that your furniture matches your style, color, and texture and it is important that the lighting highlights it all in a manner that is natural and that is logical. It’s also important to remember that lighting can have a task. A task for a floor lamp should be to highlight an art piece or for a reading area. A floor lamp should never be in an area where it is not needed. And while you might not need any extra lighting to your room, you should always have some type of decoration on the window. That is one of the first things people notice when they walk into a room. Windows can bring boredom to your room without you even knowing it, decorate them accordingly! When you are picking out your sofa, look at the arms of the sofa, these arms will tell you what type of style the couch is and what you should choose from. If the arm is flat it is typically modern, if the arm is slanted or has pillowed it transitional and if the arms are round and there are bullets on the arm then it would be classified as traditional. After picking out all of your furnishings it is suggested that you place them in a manor that best fits the room’s dimensions. There is also a room of thumb that says there should be somewhere to place your drinks at least within 50 cm of every place you are sitting in the living room. This allows for comfort and is appreciated by guests. It’s probably smart to keep the coasters within that length too to ensure no water rings too! Know that you have decided the right style, the hard part is over! Now there are just four more easy steps and then you will be all done.
So now that we are at the seventh step I want you to concentrate on the ground you are moving onto. You are going to want to match your floor with the style of your living room. And above the floor you will want to match rugs or carpet wool to your surroundings as well. Hard floors with large soft rugs are becoming increasingly popular with contemporary interior designers. They are using the large soft rugs to soften up the floors the same way we use soft accessories like pillows, curtains, or towels to soften up rigid accessories. It’s important to have different densities through out your home but it’s even more important to have soft things because these are what give room’s warmth and harmony. Now after picking out your floors the next thing you are going to have to do is pick out colors for your wall and ceilings. If people seem to quit decorating it usually tends to be around the time the painting begins. But don’t be discouraged, painting is easy and affordable and it’s what really brings the room to life. Even if you don’t think you should paint your room a different color, maybe you should opt for a half tone because even the slightest color adds character too a room. Remember that it is easy to add textures on your wall and that these are one of the most stand out things you can do if your room needs it. Once you are done with your walls get ready to start the most important step, step nine/ ten. Step nine/ten is simply accessories and personality. You must fill your room with accessories because these are the things that bring out your personality. Personality was going to be step ten but I feel like any object that you bring in to your home immediately becomes an accessory anyway. So this is your last step! Find ten things that are wonderful to you either at stores or in your stuff and then place them through out your room. These are going to be the things that people bring up and these things will be part of the wonderful things you can talk about! After this your living room will be the most visited room in the house. Decorate accordingly!
